We bought Rathgillan Farm in 1993. It is situated 1 km from the pretty village of Nobber and we are in the historical Boyne valley region. The farm had been rented for many years and was run down. We have spent the last 18 years upgrading the farm. We have 50 suckler cows mainly Limosine cross. We rear the calves to 1 year old and then sell then at the local mart. We are a demonstration farm for the Rural Environmental Protection Scheme. This scheme promotes the protection and enhancment of our rural environment within the farming enterpise. In 1996 we build our present house. In 2005 we built Rathgillan Cottage as a holiday house onto the end of our present house..

As this was so successful we renovated the derilict stone barn and the stone cottage which both date from pre 1850 as can be seen on farm maps 1851 and 1863. There is an old fort in the centre of the farm, at the highest point which dates from the Celtic era. There are beautful views of the surrounding countryside from the top of this fort. Other Celtic forts can be seen from RathCarn fort. There are fenced walkways around the farm that are used for moving cattle and for walking. We also have 4 acres of coniferous forest where you can enjoy a walk through the trees. We hope you enjoy your stay on our farm.Rathgillan Farm Driver tours Peter.
